Our years of experience, a larger workforce, and industry expertise fuel the development of over 200 new features and improvements yearly to support growing businesses — delivering more than any other software in the market.
For the past decade, ServiceTitan has been revolutionizing how contractors operate, making us a solution you can trust to support your business needs today — and scale with in the future.
The following are some core reasons to choose ServiceTitan over Housecall Pro.
Throughout the ServiceTitan platform, far more automation features provide efficiency gains for field service businesses. For example:
Automated Report Delivery: The ability to schedule reports to your inbox anytime.
Adjustable Capacity Planning: The ability to set capacity planning rules that optimize your schedule to maximize revenue.
Touchless Accounting Integration: The ability for journal entries to auto export and update in QuickBooks Online and Sage Intacct.
Automated Invoice Capture: The ability to upload PDFs or images of vendor invoices and have the data automatically extracted into ServiceTitan.
These are all examples of features that aren’t available in Housecall Pro, and they’re just scratching the surface of the automations that ServiceTitan users benefit from.
ServiceTitan has the capabilities to support small businesses up to enterprise-level operations. If you are a medium-sized to larger enterprise or have ambitions to grow, our platform will be far more able to support you compared to Housecall Pro.
This is exemplified throughout our platform in numerous ways. For example:
Support for Multiple Business Divisions, Business Units, and Properties: We offer features to support residential and commercial service, as well as construction divisions. We support multi-tech jobs, multi-location shops, and roll-up reporting to track metrics across your operation.
System Consolidation/All-in-One Functionality: We bring the functions of standalone systems into one connected solution. No alternatives bring together FSM, CRM, ERP, and financial technology (fintech) capabilities to deliver an unmatched experience for growing businesses.
At the Center of the Ecosystem and Tech Stack: From our 30+ direct integrations to open APIs, we provide the ability and seamless connection to third-party platforms to not only ensure real-time data syncing but also make ServiceTitan the source of truth for your data.
Infrastructure to support you as you grow and scale: We’ve been the leading software of the trades for over 10 years and are backed by leading investors. With quarterly releases, we’re continuously delivering new features and improvements right to your account, so you know your business is running with the latest innovation in the market. Our platform provides the reliability and support that’s needed for a business operating in a 24/7 world. With our historical uptime of 99.9%, ServiceTitan is a partner you can rely on.
Security: Protecting customer data is a top priority for ServiceTitan, so we have implemented best-in-class security practices to keep customer data safe based on best practices in the SaaS industry. We have compliance with PCI-DSS Level 1 (the highest security standards for handling credit card payments), AICPA SOC 1 Type I (financial reporting controls), and AICPA SOC 2 Type II (ensuring data security, availability, and privacy are consistently maintained over time). ServiceTitan’s formal security program is detailed in its independent third-party SOC-2 audit report and ServiceTitan’s Security and Privacy Documentation. ServiceTitan’s Security and Privacy Documentation and independent third-party audits demonstrate the advanced security framework that ServiceTitan uses to protect customer data.
Compared to Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan offers more robust customer support, community, and training resources that help our users develop greater industry expertise, get maximum usage out of our product, and learn how to implement best practices to grow their businesses and revenue.
For example, ServiceTitan users get exclusive access to:
Dedicated Support Teams: A personal support team to address specific questions and concerns.
Comprehensive Training and Onboarding: Extensive training and onboarding for new users to help with understanding the software and utilizing features effectively.
Titan Exchange: A cloud-based platform for sharing assets such as contracts, templates, checklists, and other valuable information.
TitanAdvisor: With personalized feature recommendations and focused, step-by-step guidance, TitanAdvisor takes the guesswork out of choosing the right ServiceTitan features for your business, so you get the results you want.
ServiceTitan Community: A users-only message board where ideas for our software and business in general are shared.
Free Peer-Group Training: A program run by ServiceTitan employees through Ember and Spark sessions, designed to be a place where best practices are shared.
Certified Admin Program: Our Certified Administrator program provides a structured approach to increasing knowledge of ServiceTitan, as well as constant and continuing education on the software.
Business owners and operators, particularly in the core industries that ServiceTitan was built to support (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.) find these resources to be invaluable for getting the most out of our platform, as well as staying up-to-date with the best practices and strategies that are working for other companies.
For example, here are some testimonials from people in the ServiceTitan Community:
“ServiceTitan Community has had a massive impact on our growth as a company. We have created connections, gleaned ideas/strategies, and grown exponentially. That may have never happened without the network that Community provides.”
“The ServiceTitan community provides a wonderful opportunity for networking. It’s a great place to have questions quickly answered. You can search by keywords to pull up resources, and if these can’t answer your question, you can post your question as a discussion and have other users help. Having the community helps all ServiceTitan users to feel connected to one another! I love the ideas page where we can post our ideas about the direction we would like to see the software go. This helps us feel like valued customers when we can influence the future of the software!”
ServiceTitan is at the forefront of bringing AI to the trades, something no other platform can provide. With Titan Intelligence (TI), our AI engine, you get actionable insights to help automate repetitive and simple tasks, predict outcomes, lower costs, and stay competitive in a world run by data.
At the 2023 Pantheon conference, we announced 14 new AI-driven features across our Pro Products and Accounting suite. In 2024 we announced several new features that build further on what we’re already providing for trade businesses.
The key difference between ServiceTitan and other solutions when it comes to AI development for the trades is twofold:
Access to trade-specific data: AI takes an enormous amount of data inputs to develop effectively, and ServiceTitan benefits from trade-specific data across thousands of customers and locations giving us a significant advantage compared with other providers.
Dedicated AI division: ServiceTitan has an entire division — Data, Titan Intelligence, and AI — that is dedicated to developing these advanced technologies for our customers. We’re developing an AI platform for the trades — not simply a series of chatbots within our software.
Housecall Pro is primarily field service software, whereas ServiceTitan combines field service management software and construction management software into a single platform.
If your business has a construction division, you’ll benefit far more from using ServiceTitan as we have a growing number of features and workflows to support construction work. These include features such as real-time project financial tracking, estimating and purchasing, AIA-style progress billing, and more (see screenshots below).
ServiceTitan provides powerful, flexible workflows essential to many service companies that Housecall Pro may not have robust capacity to support, such as
Seamless communication between the field and office staff
Efficiency, flexibility, and accuracy for certain fundamental processes (e.g. inventory management, scheduling, etc.)
Access to data that facilitates business growth
Lastly, Housecall Pro charges additional fees for key features such as:
Sales proposal tools
Recurring service plans
GPS tracking for vehicles
Below we walk through examples of features in which ServiceTitan workflows are likely to better meet your business needs.
When technicians are at jobs outside of cell service zones, they can continue using our mobile app (available on Android and iOS/iPhone).
There’s no need to revert to pen and paper, and no scenario where technicians lack the tools they need to complete the job. All data entered into the app is immediately uploaded to the cloud as they re-enter cell service zones, so office staff can access those job details in real time via our desktop app.
Service business owners can set parameters in our job scheduling tool to automate the implementation of a profitable capacity planning strategy.
For example, they can set parameters to increase or decrease availability for general maintenance appointments based on seasonal demand. This can be automatically applied to schedule availability so that CSRs will see availability only for certain types of jobs based on those parameters.
Appointed team members can access and leverage a suite of tools to optimize inventory and purchase order management, including:
Inventory Overview: At a glance, users can view all items that they’ve added to track with ServiceTitan inventory. For each inventory item, this view displays an item name, code, and description, along with quantities available, on hold, on order, and on hand, plus the average cost per unit and total value of the stock. You can see big-picture numbers, such as total inventory valuation and total number of items. Or you can drill down into individual inventory items for further detail.
Replenishment: To track equipment and materials in your trucks and warehouse, our replenishment feature automatically updates to reflect the number of items needed in a given location. As items are added to invoices or purchase orders, these are automatically reflected in your inventory data. Users can be prompted to replenish to maintain the necessary inventory.
Purchase Orders: Users can initiate the requisition of equipment and materials for jobs right from within the estimate screen. They can then create and send purchase orders to the appropriate vendors, and track those orders through fulfillment. Inventory data automatically updates to reflect all POs.
And more: This feature set also includes workflows for managing adjustments, returns, warranty parts tracking, and more.
ServiceTitan provides open API access, enabling customers, especially larger enterprise shops, to tailor the platform to their existing workflows. With V2 APIs, users benefit from improved security, performance, and self-service access to developer tools and resources. This allows businesses to build powerful integrations that address specific challenges and drive growth.
When calls come in, our call booking feature displays relevant property data such as property type, property age, square footage, and more. This allows CSRs to spot upsell opportunities, provide better context to field technicians and provide better customer support.
Leveraging our field service mobile app, techs can build estimates and proposals from scratch by selecting items from your pricebook, or leverage and customize estimate templates for common recurring services.
The ability to provide extensive product details and high-quality images supplies techs with everything they need to explain services, packages, and products to customers—whether they’re selling a system replacement or performing a simple repair job.
After a homeowner has made their selection, techs can then create work orders, offer financing, generate invoices, collect payments, and more.
On average, shops that use ServiceTitan for field management see a significant boost in sales numbers that fuel business growth. For example:
+15% increase in revenue
+7% increase in closing rate
+10% increase in call booking
+18% increase in leads
We offer a deep suite of features that help to sell, coordinate, and maintain memberships and maintenance agreements. This includes:
Easily Creating Memberships: A three-step membership wizard allows you to create new maintenance memberships and equipment-based contracts with just a few taps via our mobile app.
Tailoring Membership Agreements: The ability to customize memberships with additional monthly charges, opt-ins for extra maintenance tasks, membership upgrades for additional services, and more.
Tracking Membership Performance: An easy-to-read performance summary of each agreement, showing revenue, costs, the number of completed visits planned and unplanned, and more.
Prioritizing Memberships for Profitability: The ability to see (and prioritize) visits that involve older equipment and possible replacements and lets technicians review open estimates, equipment service histories, and notes to find new sales opportunities at a location.
As part of our customer experience software, customers and dispatchers can see where technicians are when they’re driving to a job. In addition, you can send appointment reminders and even technician bios over SMS text so customers know what (and who) to expect when your truck arrives.
If you’re working on construction projects that take place over weeks or months, you need a different set of tools than for a short-term residential service and repair job.
For example, it’s essential to have real-time visibility into your project financials as you progress through the job. Without a clear view into your job costing, you can easily find yourself losing control of your costs, and not making any profit—or worse, finishing a job at a loss.
With construction project management workflows, contractors can view their project financials in real time via the project page. For any given project, they can view a set of financial tables including:
Project Summary: An overview table containing the high-level details of their project, such as the amounts and percentages completed of their contract sum, expenses, cost to complete, total earned, total retainage, total invoiced, etc.
Budget vs. Actual: An in-depth look at budgeted versus actual expenses, including the variance and percentage of the budget used.
Expense Details: A detailed breakdown of all expenses for the project, and the ability to drill down into individual line items to track expenses at a granular level
These tables are updated automatically throughout the project as expenses occur, work is completed, invoices are received, etc. From this same page, contractors can take a variety of key actions that include building estimates, adding invoices or applications for payment, requisitioning equipment and materials, and more.
The features we’ve discussed throughout this post are just some of the areas where ServiceTitan offers more to trade service companies than Housecall Pro.
We also provide comprehensive features for:
Customer experience and CRM (customer notifications, customer payment portal, etc.)
Payment processing (accept credit card payments, checks, etc. both online and via mobile)
Online booking tools
And more
