To be the best, companies are wise to associate with the best, in relationships that make both parties better.
Cobalt Service Partners, which has grown to 12 entities in just two years of existence and is backed by Alpine Investors, among the premier private-equity backed commercial contractors in the nation, shares that value with ServiceTitan.
The resulting strategic partnership between the two, announced in April, is a marriage of companies that share similar core philosophies and operations visions, for the benefit of both partners.
“ServiceTitan exists because we listen to best-in-class businesses, and we make sure that we can support them,” Alex Kablanian, ServiceTitan’s General Manager of Commercial and Construction, said. “Then we take those learnings and we use them for other best-in-class businesses.”
That two-way sharing is a key component. Cobalt will provide feedback and information to ServiceTitan, which will listen and collaboratively refine a software that already robustly supports commercial contractors with new functionality and constant improvement.
The goal is for a collaboration that enhances the software for Cobalt, and the entire industry, right away.
“Cobalt is building a best-in-class business,” Kablanian said. “They have a really open team that is willing to give feedback. Super collaborative. That's one of the most exciting parts of this partnership.”
Access to excellence
Founded in 2023, Cobalt is a holding company for businesses that develop access solutions that govern access to, from and within non-residential properties. Think commercial doors, security gates, access control systems, video surveillance and overhead doors and docks, among other initiatives.
Cobalt launched with the purchase of Piedmont Door Solutions (Charlotte) in December 2023. Its 12th and most recent purchase came in March 2025 when it bought Flores Technical Services (Dallas). Its businesses cover the country, ranging from New York to San Francisco; Columbus, Georgia; to Eagle River, Wisconsin.
All Cobalt’s businesses were purchased with the intent of maintaining the brand and honoring the effort and legacies of the people who founded them.
“They’re a quick-moving organization,” Kablanian said. “They have big aspirations and ambitions. That’s another reason why there’s overlap with (ServiceTitan).”
Cobalt states its mission on its website, written by co-founders Anthony Gonzalez and Tyler Hoffman.
“We take care of our people, we do right by our customers and we honor the missions and values that made our businesses great in the first place,” they wrote. “We want 100% of our founders, their employees, and their customers to say that they feel proud to have us as a partner. Our gratitude for the blue-collar workers who power their communities runs deep and dictates how we run our business.”
That deep commitment is partly the reason the company is named after cobalt, a critical mineral mined from deep within the earth’s crust.
A kindred spirit
ServiceTitan’s founding has similarities. Founders Ara Mahdessian and Vahe Kuzoyan grew up in the trades and had parents working in them. They developed ServiceTitan to help trade businesses streamline workloads to promote profits.
“Cobalt is very tech-progressive,” Kablanian said. “They want to give their companies the best tools and processes and business practice to succeed in what they do. That’s effectively our mantra as a business.”
Cobalt’s rapid growth, desire for standardization, and search for a single tech stack for the business make them a perfect partner, Kablanian said. And Hoffman agrees.
“We see enormous potential in this market, and strongly believe in the power of technology to help our operators realize their full potential,” Hoffman said. “ServiceTitan is at the heart of this effort.”
Hoffman said ServiceTitan’s software will allow Cobalt and its businesses “to maximize our growth, streamline operations, optimize project management, and create a more connected experience across all our locations."
No limits
Cobalt especially appreciates ServiceTitan’s ability to grow with its partners.
“Their team has demonstrated success in building a platform that operates seamlessly across multiple locations, while supporting numerous and complex roll-outs,” said Chris Kalna, Cobalt’s Vice President of Technology. “ServiceTitan is not just a software partner. They are the backbone of our tech stack, driving alignment across our team, partner companies, and the various integrated partners in our tech ecosystem."
It is a marriage of the best.
“I think the reasons they've liked our approach is, one, we've proven that for businesses that look like them—PE aggregated, highly acquisitive—we've been able to keep pace with implementing locations as they've grown,” Kablanian said. “Then, two, I think they ultimately were pretty aligned with the way we approached the fact that we're not going anywhere.”
Kablanian said ServiceTitan looks forward to working with every entity in Cobalt’s realm.
“They almost get the best of both worlds,” Kablanian said. “Their individual locations are happy and the corporate location is happy.”
